How to revive old property leads that went cold

How Malaysian property agents can reconnect with old buyer and tenant leads: who to contact first, what to say, how often, and when to finally stop.

Published 2026-09-23. Updated 2026-09-23.

Most agents have hundreds of old leads sitting in their phone or spreadsheet: people who enquired months ago and then went quiet. Many of them are still looking, or will be soon. Plans change, leases end, families grow and loans get approved. A structured reactivation campaign is often the cheapest source of new deals you have.

Give them a reason to talk

Never call just to ask whether they are still interested. Bring something new: a new listing in their budget, a price reduction, a new project nearby, or recent rental and sale prices in the area they asked about.

Example Reviving an old buyer lead

Agent: Hi Ms Chong, this is Daniel from Harmony Properties. You asked about three bedroom homes in Cheras earlier this year. A unit just came up in Taman Connaught at a better price than the ones you saw. Are you still looking?

How often

Try one call and one WhatsApp. If there is no response, wait a month and try once more with a different reason. After that, move them to a quarterly message. Always stop if they ask.

Use your records

The more you wrote down originally, such as budget, area, timing and family situation, the more personal your revival call can be. This is why recording every conversation matters.

Doing it at scale

If you have hundreds of old leads, calling them all yourself can take weeks. An AI phone agent can make the first round of calls and tell you who is back in the market, so you focus on them.

  • Stop requests removed before you start.
  • Leads sorted by recency and past engagement.
  • Each contact includes a new, relevant reason.
  • Responses recorded with a next action.

Frequently asked questions

How old is too old for a property lead?

There is no fixed limit. People often return to the market after a year or two. Lower the frequency for older leads rather than deleting them, unless they asked you to stop.

Should I call or message old leads?

Message leads older than a year first. Call more recent leads and anyone who viewed a property.
